Maurya Empire
The Maurya Empire was a geographically extensive Iron Age historical power based in Magadha and founded by Chandragupta Maurya. Under Ashoka the Great, the empire embraced Buddhism and spread its teachings across Asia, including to Sri Lanka through his son Mahinda.
