King Senasammata Vikramabahu

Senasammata Vikramabahu (1469–1511) is traditionally regarded as the founder of the Kandyan kingdom, establishing an independent highland realm. His 42-year reign focused on fortifying the central highlands, creating a defensible capital resistant to lowland invasions. He laid the foundation for Kandy's survival as the last independent Sinhalese kingdom during the colonial era.
